It’s 10 years today since Police and Crime Commissioners were democratically elected and have been making a difference in their communities.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “I’ve found it a fascinating job, working hard with the Home Office and other colleagues to find more funding for policing and that’s made a difference here with nearly 900 extra police officers now. “Essex Police is the biggest it’s been in its 182-year history.” Roger was the first PCC to become a PFCC, taking on governance of the fire and rescue service five years ago. Roger said: “It’s been a really interesting five years, working with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service to help make it a better place to work and provide a better service to the public.”Watch a video message from Roger here: https://youtu.be/Saomzd6j6GM
