How the PFCC scrutinises the Fire and Rescue Service
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex plays a crucial role in scrutinising the Essex Fire and Rescue Service to ensure its effectiveness and accountability. The PFCC sets the strategic priorities and budget for the service, aligning them with community needs and safety goals.
Regular performance reviews are conducted, where the PFCC holds the Chief Fire Officer accountable for the service's performance, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
Additionally, the PFCC oversees the allocation of resources and monitors the implementation of the Fire and Rescue Plan, ensuring that the service operates efficiently and effectively to protect the residents of Essex. This rigorous scrutiny helps maintain high standards and fosters public trust in the fire and rescue services.
Performance and Resource Board for Fire & Rescue
The Performance & Resource Board responsibilities include scrutinising, supporting, and challenging the overall performance of the fire and rescue service against agreed priorities within the Fire and Rescue Plan and Integrated Risk Management Plan.
Strategic Board for Fire & Rescue
The Board has been established to support the Essex Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in overseeing and advising on the Fire and Rescue Service Strategic Transformation Programme. This ensures the programme is effective, public-facing, and aligned with broader public sector initiatives in Essex.
