Electric scooter riders and illegal fishing among topics raised at PFCC public meeting for Castle Point district

Electric scooter riders, illegal fishing and emergency flood cover for Canvey Island were some of the topics raised at the PFCC Castle Point district public meeting on Monday 2nd June.
The meeting was held in the Memorial Hall, High St, Canvey Island.
Answering questions from the public were Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst was joined by Ch Insp Stuart Austin Paul Hogben of Essex Police and ECFRS Group Manager Kerry Taylor.
Attendees at the meeting heard how over the past 12 months to the end of April 2025 ASB in Castle Point is down 9.6% and Burglary is down 35%. These are the very latest figures available.
The meeting also heard how since January 2024 the ECFRS fire prevention teams have completed 825 home visits in the Castle Point district.
Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Roger Hirst said: “Being able to hear directly from local communities is invaluable in better understanding concerns and ensure we are working together to make Castle Point a safer place.”
The PFCC hosts a public meeting once a year in each of the 14 districts of Essex, allowing residents to raise community safety matters directly with the panel. This is part of the ongoing PFCC Essex engagement schedule which has directly engaged with more than 5,000 Essex residents in the past 12 months.
