Essex PFCC Supports Safer Business Action Week 2025 to tackle retail crime and strengthen local communities - video

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, Roger Hirst, is proud to support Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week 2025, taking place today on Monday 10th November 2025.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing police and partnership response to tackling retail crime, anti-social behaviour and other offences affecting businesses across Essex.
SaBA Week brings together police, partners and businesses to deliver targeted activity aimed at reducing crime and improving safety in high streets, retail parks and in businesses in rural communities. It is a vital opportunity to highlight the importance of collaborative working in protecting businesses and the communities they serve.
Roger Hirst said: “Businesses are the backbone of our communities and our economy. When they feel safe and supported, they thrive—and so do the people who live and work around them. SaBA Week is a powerful example of how partnership working can make a real difference in tackling retail crime and anti-social behaviour.”
Jane Gardner, Deputy PFCC, spoke at the Essex Chambers of Commerce Festival of Business last week, underlining the ongoing support of the PFCC Essex for helping businesses reduce crime. The Essex PFCC continues to lead the Business Crime Strategic Board, working closely with Essex Chambers of Commerce, Essex Police and other key stakeholders. The Board provides a platform for businesses to raise concerns, share intelligence, and shape the county’s approach to business crime prevention.
“Through the Business Crime Strategic Board, we are listening to businesses and acting on what they tell us. We are investing in neighbourhood policing, supporting crime prevention initiatives, and working to ensure Essex remains a safe and attractive place to do business,” Mr Hirst added.
Creating safer communities is not only a matter of public protection—it is also a driver of economic growth. When businesses operate in secure environments, they are more likely to invest, expand, and create jobs. SaBA Week reinforces the message that safety and prosperity go hand in hand.
The PFCC encourages all businesses, partners, and residents to get involved in SaBA Week and support efforts to make Essex a safer, stronger and more resilient county.
