Roger Hirst, PFCC, backing Essex VVU partnership following positive evaluation from Home Office.

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst has been told by the Home Office the PFCC backed Violence and Vulnerability Unit (VVU) is working well in driving down knife crime and saving lives in Essex.

The VVU works across all of Essex and is a partnership between a number of agencies, including the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner; Southend, Essex and Thurrock Councils; Essex Police; health; probation; as well as criminal justice, education and voluntary sector groups.

The VVU partnership uses research, data, evaluation, targeted interventions and communication campaigns to support young people, their families and communities to stay safe and away from crime, exploitation and serious violence.
