Roger Hirst, PFCC, and Dame Priti Patel at inauguration of Hindu temple in Hatfield Peverel

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, was honoured to join Dame Priti Patel MP at the inauguration of a new Hindu place of worship today (Wednesday 16th July).

Mr Hirst and Dame Priti were pleased to visit the Chelmsford Srinivasa Perumal Temple on The Street, Hatfield Peverel, a Hindu place of worship which will serve the spritual and cultural needs of the Hindu community in the wider district around Chelmsford, Witham and north Essex.

Many people attended the inauguration ceremony, a significant and heartfelt occasion for the Essex Hindu community, which was marked with traditional rituals, prayers and music.

Roger Hirst, PFCC Essex, said: “This was a joyous occasion which I was honoured to attend and my thanks to all in the Essex Hindu community who made me feel so welcome today.

“Safe, secure communities are the bedrock on which we build prosperity and wellbeing for all and today I saw a safe, secure community which is thriving in Essex.

“We seek to work with all our communities, building and maintaining confidence in Essex Police and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, now and in the future.”
