Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “I’m delighted that Essex Police has been rated as Good by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate in the areas covered by this report which include preventing crime and anti-social behaviour, keeping people safe, investigating crime, reducing reoffending and protecting vulnerable people from harm. I know that everyone in Essex Police has been working really hard to deliver an effective police service for the public of Essex including  making improvements in addressing some key past issues, particularly in how it protects the vulnerable and communicates with victims. The increased funding we secured for policing both in Essex and nationally will help the force to consolidate this improvement by providing extra resources to go into frontline, local and visible policing.”
