Essex PFCC
Posted on Wednesday 24th July 2024 The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex (PFCC) and panel members from Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) and the Rochford Community Safety Partnership successfully held a public meeting on Monday 22nd July 2024 in Rochford. The event provided a platform for residents and councillors to engage with representatives from all four organisations. A panel discussion focused on key community safety priorities, including:
  • Continuing to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) which was down by 18.3% in the district
  • Preventing youth involvement in gangs and knife crime
  • An update on fire safety and prevention work being carried out in the community by the fire and rescue service
Attendees actively participated by raising concerns and offering suggestions including a request for a knife amnesty bin in Rochford to encourage the safe disposal of bladed articles, what was being done to improve the 101 police non-emergency reporting system and what strategies were in place to address vehicle crime in the area. Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “This public meeting was a valuable opportunity to hear directly from residents in Rochford about their concerns and priorities for community safety.  I am committed to working alongside Essex Police, ECFRS and the Community Safety Partnership to address the issues raised and help keep Rochford a safe place to live and work.” The PFCC commits to visit every district in the county and details of future meetings can be found at https://www.essex.pfcc.police.uk/events/
