PFCC joins partners in launching new Neighbourhood Policing Team for Thurrock

A new Neighbourhood Policing Team will bring more local, visible and accessible policing to Thurrock district, as launches of the new teams continue this week.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex today attended the launch of the Thurrock district Neighbourhood Policing Team in Grays town centre. The Commissioner was joined by Chief Constable BJ Harrington and Thurrock MP Jen Craft alongside other partners.
Roger Hirst said: “More local, visible and accessible policing has always been at the heart of our approach to community safety, this is a priority in our Police and Crime Plan which we developed last year.
“Earlier this year we worked hard to communicate our vision to the Government during the recent precept negotiations and it’s pleasing to launch the Government’s National Policing Guarantee which aligns with our plans.
“We are pleased officers will now be more visible in our communities, sustaining our commitment to supporting town centre policing, neighbourhood policing, rural policing and working to reduce crimes against businesses.”
The new Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee has helped fund the re-assignment of 74 officers to duties in Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) across Essex.
As well as working with councils and other partners to tackle issues in local areas and prevent crime, the Neighbourhood Policing Team’s work also includes reducing criminal anti-social behaviour, carrying out proactive operations, enforcing orders, and targeting repeat offenders and those who exploiting vulnerable people.
The types of crimes they will investigate include some robberies and sexual offences, vehicle crime, shoplifting, business burglaries, and dangerous dog incidents.
NPTs work with our partners to prevent crime happening and provide solutions to issues in local areas.
