Message from Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex
National Police Memorial Day – 28 September 2025

On Sunday 28th September 2025 as part of the National Police Memorial Day, we pause to honour and remember the police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. It is a solemn moment to reflect on the courage, dedication and unwavering commitment shown by those who serve and protect our communities.

Every day, police officers across the UK put themselves in harm’s way to uphold the law, keep us safe and support the most vulnerable in society. Their bravery often goes unseen, but it is never forgotten.

In Essex, we are proud of our policing family and the values they uphold. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm our support for them and our commitment to ensuring they have the resources, respect and recognition they deserve.

Let us never forget the sacrifices made and let us continue to honour their memory by supporting those who continue to serve with courage and compassion.
