PFCC outlines recent fire safety and community safety successes to Rotary Club members

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, was pleased to speak to members of Manningtree Stour Rotary Club on Thursday evening (15th May 2025).
Speaking at the Crown Hotel, in the High Street, Manningtree, Mr Hirst outlined recent successes in community safety to the meeting and was pleased to tell the club that incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) have decreased by 72.5% since 2016 with incidents of burglary decreasing by 89% and incidents of Homicide more than halving during the same period..
In the 12 months to the end of April 2025, all crime in Essex decreased by 6.4%.
Mr Hirst was also able to outline the increase in firefighter home fire safety visits by 182% with 7,000 more homes given safety advice, smoke alarms fitted, and vulnerabilities noted during the past 12 months, emphasising Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s focus on prevention and protection.
The Manningtree Stour Rotary Club officers thanked Mr Hirst for his attending the meeting and speaking to the club.
