Mr Hirst spoke to councillors about the fall in crime in Essex, which has reduced by 8.7 per cent in the last five years and the reduction in anti-social behaviour incidents in the county have fallen by more than 70 per cent since 2016.
A 182% increase in home fire safety visits by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service since 2019 was also highlighted, with 7,000 more homes visited by firefighters, given safety advice, smoke alarms fitted, and vulnerabilities noted.
Mr Hirst said: “It’s so important to be out and about in Essex, speaking to our communities, listening to concerns and letting people know about further work to increase community safety and drive crime and anti-social behaviour further down.”
