PFCC Roger Hirst speaks on LBC Radio

Monday 28th July 2025
This weekend, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst spoke with Iain Dale on LBC about the ongoing protests in Epping and the use of the Bell Hotel to house asylum seekers.
During the interview, PFCC Roger Hirst renewed calls for the immediate closure of the Bell Hotel in Epping, currently being used to house asylum seekers, citing escalating community tensions, public safety concerns and a significant strain on police resources.
In a letter to the Home Secretary, the PFCC has requested urgent action to cease the use of the Bell Hotel and called for a meeting with Angela Eagle, Minister for Asylum, to discuss the wider implications of housing asylum seekers in Essex hotels.
