Residents of Colchester district are invited to attend a public meeting hosted by Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, to discuss local crime and community safety issues.

The public meeting, taking place at Thurstable School & Sixth Form, Maypole Road, Tiptree, Essex, CO5 0EW, on Monday 12th January 2026 from 7pm to 8pm, offers a valuable opportunity for members of the public to hear about the latest community safety initiatives in the area and to raise any concerns directly with those responsible for keeping Essex safe.

This meeting is for all residents who live in the Colchester district. Last year the meeting was held in West Mersea.

Roger Hirst will be joined by representatives from:

  • Essex Police
  • Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS)
  • Colchester Community Safety Partnership

Together, they will provide updates on local policing, fire safety, and partnership work aimed at tackling crime, anti-social behaviour, and improving public safety and there will be a chance for the public to ask questions of the panel.

Roger Hirst said: “Public meetings like this are a vital part of how we stay connected with our communities. It’s a chance to listen, to share what’s being done, and to work together to make Colchester district an even safer place to live and work.”

Everyone is welcome to attend. No booking is required.

The PFCC hosts a public meeting once a year in each of the 14 districts of Essex, allowing residents to raise community safety matters directly with the panel. This is part of the ongoing PFCC Essex engagement schedule which has directly engaged with more than 3,000 Essex residents in the past 12 months.
