Response to the Budget 2017
23 November 2017

Responding to yesterday’s Budget, Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex and finance lead for the Association of Police and Crime Commissioner’s said:
“Whilst there was no announcement in the Budget yesterday we are confident that we have put forward a strong evidence base for a new settlement for policing nationally.
“The nature of crime is changing and police forces across the county are facing increasingly complex and serious forms of crime.
“We have been working with the Home Office to identify a detailed and accurate picture of current and future demand and this has shown that the demands on policing are going to increase.
“As we work through the details of the Budget and towards the financial settlement date in December we will continue to work with the Home Office to explain the challenges and opportunities we face.”
