We’re proud of our firefighters in Turkey

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, is proud of our three Essex Firefighters who have flown out to Turkey to support the rescue mission. [caption id="attachment_31618" align="aligncenter" width="300"] L-R Bryn Jones, Scott Meekings and Steve Smith[/caption]

Roger said: “Steve, Scott and Bryn we are really proud of you and the work you are doing in extremely difficult circumstances. Once again, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is stepping forward to help those most in need with their expertise. On behalf of the people of Essex, thank you for what you are doing and keep safe.”

Councillor Kevin Bentley, Leader of Essex County Council, echoed Roger’s comments.

He said: “Not for the first time, Essex has received the international call for urgent assistance and thanks to the renowned skills and expertise of our firefighters, we are able to answer it. We wish Scott, Bryn and Steve every success with their mission and all the challenges they will face.”

Group Manager Scott Meekings, Crew Manager Bryn Jones and Watch Manager Steve Smith are part of the UK International Search and Rescue team, working alongside colleagues from other UK fire and rescue services. You can read more on the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service website.
