Nick Alston is delighted to be meeting members of the Young Essex Assembly on Saturday October 5, 2013. The event has been organised in response to the group’s request to learn more about how Essex Police tackles crime and whether there are simple steps that can be taken to improve personal safety. Nick Alston, Police and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said:  “This is a great opportunity for young people to have their say on the police and crime issues that matter to them.  I’m really grateful that they have chosen to give up some precious time at the weekend to meet with police officers and Victim Support for what should be a lively and informative event.” The day consists of three workshops in which young people which will learn about:
  • Support for young victims
  • Staying safe
  • How Essex Police responds to crime and how it can be prevented
The workshops will be delivered by Victim Support, Youth Officers Pc Ashley Golding and Pc Judy Atkinson, and Nick Alston. After the workshops, there will be a question time session with the guest speakers.  The event will end in a Challenge set by the PCC for the audience to give feedback about Essex Police engagement with young people, and any areas they feel could be improved.
