Main purpose of the role:

Monitor and performance manage the range of contracts and grant-funded services commissioned by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC), enabling the PFCC to deliver on agreed outcomes and to demonstrate value for money. The role will also enable the PFCC to demonstrate compliance with its statutory obligations, for instance in line with the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime. Work with existing suppliers to ensure commissioned services can demonstrate their effectiveness in relation to commissioned outcomes and the areas of focus within the Police and Crime Plan and / or Fire and Rescue Plan. Support the professional administration and operation of the PFCCs commissioning programme. To provide co-ordination and support to, and in some cases to directly manage, new commissioning projects. Engage with external partners and stakeholders in relation to joint commissioning opportunities. Provide evidence-based research and advice on policy and commissioning options to inform decision-making by the PFCC and their senior staff. Provide oversight and scrutiny of contracts that require PFCC review and sign off.

Essex Police offer agile working which designates that certain roles can offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working. The specific requirements of this role will be discussed during the interview stages with candidates. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace, as agreed with the line manager.
