The Police and Crime Commissioner will be holding public meetings to discuss crime and policing issues in Chelmsford and Braintree during the first week of December.  Everyone is welcome to attend and have their say. Key subjects for the meeting in Chelmsford on Tuesday December 3 will be house burglary, the city’s busy and vibrant night life, and links between drug abuse and crime.  The Braintree meeting on Thursday December 5 will concentrate on visibility and neighbourhood policing, burglaries, theft of cycles and cycling on pavements. These are important events for everyone who cares about the way their community is policed and who wants to know the facts about crime in their area.  Meetings have already taken place in Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Chelmsford, Dunmow, Rochford, Colchester, Brentwood, Maldon, Epping, Harlow, Castle Point, and Clacton, and the next events are scheduled for: -------------------------- Chelmsford: Time: 17:30 to 19:30, Tuesday December 3, 2013 Location: Chelmsford City Council Chamber, Duke Street, Chelmsford CM1 1JE Braintree: Time: 16:00 to 18:00, Thursday December 5, 2013 Location: Council Chambers, Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree CM7 9HB   ---------------------------- Nick Alston said: “It is important that crime continues to fall in Essex – that we have fewer victims of crime and fewer people living in fear of crime. I am committed to the principle of local solutions for local problems, and to ensuring that police, partner agencies, the voluntary sector and residents work together as closely as possible to keep our communities safe. “Each meeting will be two hours long. We’d love people to attend all the meeting, but if you can only make part of it, please still come along. I want your views to be part of the debate about how we can best keep the streets and countryside of Essex safe.” News alerts will usually be tweeted via the Essex PCC Twitter account: https://twitter.com/essexpcc
