PFCC to speak at public meeting allowing residents to have say on Government’s proposed reforms to policing

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, will be speaking at a public meeting allowing people to have their say on the Government’s proposed reforms to policing.

The meeting, organised by local campaigner Anna Firth, will be held on Monday 3 August at Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh-on-Sea, with doors opening at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.

Earlier this year, the Home Office published a White Paper, From Local to National: A New Model for Policing, which sets out proposals to move towards fewer, larger regional police organisations.

The Commissioner invited residents of all ages to take part in a public survey to ensure the views of communities across the county were represented as the Government considers how to implement its major package of reforms.

The survey was hosted online and ran between 10 June and 22 July 2026. More than 1,700 people from across Essex responded.

Mr Hirst will be joining the public meeting to discuss the Government’s reforms.
