Residents join public meeting to discuss policing, fire and community safety in Thurrock

Residents from across Thurrock came together on Monday 2 November for a public meeting in Grays, giving local people the opportunity to discuss policing, community safety and fire and rescue service issues directly with local leaders.
The meeting, held at Tyrells Hall, was chaired by Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst and brought together representatives from Essex Police, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Thurrock Council.
Joining the Commissioner were Chief Inspector Daniel Barnes from Essex Police, Area Manager Dan Kirk from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Michael Dineen from Thurrock Council.
Residents were able to raise questions and discuss issues affecting their communities, as well as hear directly from local partners about their work to keep people safe across Thurrock.
Speaking after the meeting, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion.
He said:
“Public meetings are an important opportunity for residents to speak directly with local leaders, ask questions and share their concerns.
“We are grateful to everyone who came along and contributed to what was a constructive and informative discussion.
“The wide range of topics raised demonstrates how much people care about their community. These conversations are important because they help inform the work of policing, fire and community safety partners across Thurrock and ensure we remain focused on the issues that matter most to local people.”
