Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, was quoted on BBC local radio about the value for money a new police station represents.
The £4.5m station, which will serve communities in Dovercourt, Harwich and north Essex, is the first new Essex Police station to be opened in Essex for 17 years.
Costs were kept down by utilising land already owned by the PFCC, who is in charge of police and fire estates in Essex, making investment in the new police station a worthwhile project.
Mr Hirst spoke to a reporter at the opening which was then broadcast during morning bulletins.
